Online, April 2, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Ernest "The Cat" Miller, former WCW Superstar and commissioner of the inaugural River City Sports Festival [RCSF], today announced that Dan "The Beast" Severn, the only UFC Triple Crown Champion and former NWA Superstar, will clash against former WWE, WCW and current TNA/Impact superstars at "Rumble in River City," a pro wrestling show headlining the amateur multi-sport competition, May 9-11, 2014, in Mason City, Iowa. Wrestlers will enter the squared circle Saturday night, May 10, at North Iowa Area Community College [NIACC].
Appearing at "Rumble in River City" a week before he wrestles 2013 Professional Grappling League [PGL] Heavyweight Champion Nicholas Caggia at PGL VII in Berlin, NJ, Severn will also host a mixed-martial arts clinic Friday, May 9, when he will deliver a demonstration on karate. RCSF karate tournament competitors are encouraged to attend this skills showcase for an opportunity to learn from the MMA master. Event information and registration can be found at www.rcsportsfestival.com.
"Don't let the moniker of 'The Beast' fool you," Miller said. "Dan is not only a world-class fighter, but also a superior coach and speaker. He travels the globe giving seminars and making appearances. We are absolutely honored to have such a champion and role model for amateur athletes take part in our wrestling spectacular and sporting event."
Miller added that Ronin' Productions, presenter of RCSF, in association with Impact Pro Wrestling of Iowa, will soon announce the remaining card for "Rumble in River City."
The three-day RCSF event will feature archery, basketball, dance, karate, power lifting, roller derby, softball and wrestling for both individual and team competitors. Competitions will be held at the NIACC complex, while Mason City Parks and Recreation will host the softball tournament and the Mohawk Archery Club will host the archery contests. Registration and more competition information are available at www.rcsportsfestival.com.
Miller and Ronin' Productions, in partnership with the Iowa Economic Development Authority and the North Iowa Sports Authority, recently kicked-off a campaign offering free tickets for "Rumble in River City." They are now available for the first 1,000 competitors registering in advance for RCSF.
