Cromer and Sheringham Crab and Lobster Festival - May 20th - 22nd 2011

Make a date in your diary for the second 2011 Cromer & Sheringham Crab & Lobster Festival, the event promises to be a fabulous celebration of all things crustacean and is taking place from 20th - 22nd May 2011.

May 2010 saw the first ever Crab and Lobster Festival on the fabulous North Norfolk Coast. Three fun filled days united the two rival fishing towns, this year the festival promises to be bigger and better with a fun filled weekend of food, art, music and entertainment for all to enjoy.

Highlights for 2011 include a cookery theatre hosted by Mary Kemp, with celebrity and local talented chefs cooking up a storm to showcase their favourite crab and lobster recipes for all to enjoy. A deckchair art trail of over 100 deckchairs designed by local and national artists will line the streets and gallivanting gastronomes can indulge in the many opportunities to try local crab and lobster specialities at the seaside farmers market, all with live cookery demonstrations.

Other attractions include a wide array of heritage stalls featuring work from local artists and photographers, demonstrations of crab and lobster basket making and workshops on the history of fishing and the RNLI in the area. If tasting the local tipple is more your scene then ale connoisseurs can tickle their taste buds on the Norfolk Ale Trail, featuring ales brewed especially to complement crustacea.
Plus there will be plenty of family friendly activities for the children too; from the World Pier Crabbing Championships to the wellie walk, crustacean comic book hero design competition, face painting and much more.

Kate Royall, festival secretary said of the event "The aim of the festival is to celebrate the crab and lobster heritage of the area, raise money for local charities, and to provide a fun filled event for locals and visitors to the North Norfolk area."

The fun is set to continue for the month of June as the festival will also see the launch of a month long Seafood Trail involving local restaurants, cafes, pubs and hotels.
