Country Club Says Mission Is Developing the Next Generation of Golfers
LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE, Calif., October 31, 2017 (Newswire.com) - “La Canada Flintridge Country Club is pleased to announce the first Gilbert Dreyfuss High School Invitational, open to all high school age golfers. The winner of the boys division and the winner of the girls division will receive a $1,000 scholarship to use towards the college of their choice. We are very proud of our youth development programs at the club and this is another way of encouraging LCF Country Club youth and the larger community of talented high school players to stay in the game!” says Chris Akiyama, Golf Professional LCFCC.
“I am very proud to announce this scholarship for young golfers. My father, for whom the scholarship is named, was the owner of the La Cañada Flintridge Country Club for more than forty years. It is fitting to name a scholarship tournament in his memory, as he was a champion of higher education, and particularly of higher education for women, and throughout his life contributed generously to his alma maters, University of Southern California and Loyola Law School. The advantages of playing the lifelong sport of golf are legion. It is part of our club’s mission to develop the next generation of golf lovers who will carry the sport into the future.”
