A newly-created position within Correlated Magnetics has brought Jake Zimmerman into the CMR leadership team.
Online, September 19, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Correlated Magnetics Research (CMR) today announced that Jake Zimmerman has joined CMR as General Counsel and VP of Licensing. In this newly created position, Zimmerman will be responsible for licensing and strategy development as well as play a key role in patent procurement and CMR's other legal activities.
Prior to joining CMR, Zimmerman spent eight years with the law firm of Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P., one of the top patent-licensing firms in the country. During that time, Zimmerman was integral in large, complex IP licensing and dispute resolution on behalf of clients ranging from global corporations to small tech startups. He played a lead role in intellectual property licensing and litigation that resulted in patent-license royalties approaching $1 billion for his clients.
CMR's intellectual property includes magnetics technology that can be used to program magnetic materials to make them exhibit behaviors and performance far beyond those achievable using conventional magnets. CMR licenses its magnetics technology across a broad range of industries to improve product performance, reduce costs and enable groundbreaking new innovations.
"We are pleased to have Jake join our leadership team, as he brings a wealth of experience in intellectual property strategy and licensing," said Larry Fullerton, co-founder and CEO of CMR. "Jake's decision to join our organization is an affirmation of CMR's market opportunity and patent portfolio, and he will be a key contributor to our building a successful licensing business."
Zimmerman said, "I have personally analyzed CMR's portfolio of over 100 U.S. and international patents and patent applications. This extensive portfolio was built both strategically and thoroughly. It covers pioneering and enabling technologies that will have broad implications for companies across a range of industries. CMR represents an extraordinary opportunity for me as a licensing professional."
Zimmerman received a B.A. from the University of Minnesota and graduated magna cum laude with his J.D. degree from the University of Minnesota Law School. He is admitted to the Minnesota State Bar, U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
