Comfort Socks Charity Marks Four-Year Anniversary

Comfort Socks Proudly Celebrates 4 Years and over 40,000 pairs of socks collected distributed to homeless shelters all across the United States

Comfort Socks proudly celebrates four years of providing new socks for the homeless, having collected 40,000 pairs of socks that have been sent to over 50 organizations locally and across the Continental United States. It all began with the realization that one new pair of socks can make a powerful difference in someone's life.

Comfort Socks is a 501(c)3 public charity that gives new socks to homeless shelters, and non-profits that primarily serve the homeless population, all across the United States. Why new socks? The homeless must be ready to move when prodded along, keeping their shoes on day after day. Infrequently changed socks can quickly become hosts to germs, and turn every step a painful one.

"The hygiene benefits are obvious", says Theresa Tese, Founder of Comfort Socks "But our mission is using a small thing like socks to provide warmth, caring and comfort to someone walking through the most difficult time of their life."

Comfort Socks also recognizes that sock drives encourage kindness and purpose for young and old alike. "Part of our mission is to inspire others, so that the comfort these socks bring can be enjoyed soulfully by the provider and recipient," said Tese. "It is estimated that 20% of the street homeless are veterans, with socks being the number one requested item by a homeless person."

The organization invites the public to join in celebrating their 4th birthday by organizing a sock drive, sending in 4 packages of socks, or donating an amount with 4 in it ($4.00, $14.00, $24.00, etc). Tese says, "We need everyone's help to continue providing comfort to so many who have no home."
