Sydney, Australia - 09 Jun 2010 - AFL fans can get excited that 3D TV film testing will be underway with their favourite game. The Essendon FC home game against the Western Bulldogs will be a test-bed for 3D TV. Working with Essendon sponsor Samsung, a 3D videographer will shoot an Essendon FC training session and match on 28th May 2010 at Etihad stadium.

"3D TV has created an incredible interest from broadcasters and sporting organisations alike keen to be involved to develop content specifically for this new technology. As the first manufacturer to launch this innovative product, Samsung is leveraging our associations to drive awareness and excitement in bringing local and relevant content to Australians," Lambro Skropidis, Head of Marketing, Corporate Marketing, Samsung Electronics Australia.

"The winners in this test run will be AFL and sporting fans at the ground on the day and at home in the future. We are starting to see some real momentum in the plans to release 3DTV content in the future."

Essendon FC CEO, Ian Robson, agreed that the advance of 3D brings a whole new dimension to the game: "Samsung has always been a great supporter of our team and community. This new technology brings our fans even closer to the game and we're excited to be part of the inaugural testing that will one day let those at home experience the excitement of being at a match."

On match day, Samsung is bringing its 3D TV experiential booth to the concourse for viewing Samsung 3D TV, as well as showcasing the filming with live crosses with Channel 7, promotions at the ground and additional advertising to promote the 3D TV activity taking place.

In addition, Samsung is further ensuring mass publicity in its activities in the lead up to the game, with a strong advertising campaign, electronic direct mail to Essendon members and the opportunity to win a 3D TV package.
