IntelliTec College Announces Personal Training Program Featuring Official NASM Curriculum and Partnership

Colorado Springs, Colorado - IntelliTec College now offers hands-on career training and personal training certification preparation. Personal trainers enjoy rewarding careers with increasing employment opportunities. Classes for the 15-month Associate of Occupational Studies Degree program began in February.

A personal trainer career is a career in which both the trainer and client benefit. Program supervisor Chip Huss says "anyone who has the desire, passion and ability to teach, motivate and inspire others to change their lives for the better would be a good fit for this program."

Personal Training Career Success

To secure longevity as a personal trainer, hands-on training is key. Program Supervisor Chip Huss describes that roughly 80% of personal trainers end up leaving the industry by their second year of being certified due to a lack of practical skills training.

Students who successfully complete this personal trainer program will have a jump on their competition because it will prepare them not only for personal training certification, but also two advanced credentials.

NASM Personal Training Certification Preparation

IntelliTec College has partnered with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) to develop an outstanding Personal Trainer curriculum. NASM is considered the world leader in credentialing for Certified Personal Trainers (CPTs). Program Supervisor Chip Huss explains that in partnering with IntelliTec, "NASM has tailored a curriculum that teaches to the specific skill sets and credentials in areas of nutrition and corrective exercise, which should instill confidence in students to pass their exams."

NASM also provides a unique opportunity to learn protocols and techniques of the world renowned Optimum Performance Training (OPT) model to insure clients achieve long- term, safe and effective training.

Job Outlook for Personal Trainers

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics projects that "employment of fitness workers is expected to increase 29 percent over the 2008-18 decade, which is much faster than the average for all occupations."

As the population gets older there is a growing awareness to be physically healthy. This awareness is allowing the health club business to take off. This is great news for anyone enrolled in a personal training certification program.

Personal Trainer Certification Preparation

At the end of the program each student will be prepared to take 3 of the most desirable personal trainer certification and credential exams, which will make graduates of the program more employable.

• NASM Certified Personal Trainer Certification (CPT)
• NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist Credential (CES)
• NASM Fitness Nutrition Specialist Credential (FNS)

The 2 advanced specialty credentials, Corrective Exercise Specialist Credential (CES) and Fitness Nutrition Specialist Credential (FNS), are highly coveted in the field of personal training and most gyms/spas will pay more for a trainer who has them.

Highly Qualified Personal Trainer Instructors

Qualified instructors are vital to a student's success in the Personal Trainer program. Program Supervisor Chip Huss and head instructor Ian Montel are highly trained, knowledgeable and experienced live workshop instructors for NASM. Both hold masters degrees in Human Movement.
