Cisco's Videoscape Is A Multimedia Gateway That Could Change How We View Content Forever
Online, May 23, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Back in January, Cisco unveiled their brand new Videoscape unit, which allows the viewer to watch live programming, access their DVR, and connect to other devices. With this new advancement in the industry, users will be able to access the unit from their cell phones, tablets, or computers, and either watch content, set the DVR to record, or access one of the many other systems at their disposal.
Much like a smart phone, you can also download apps to the device, allowing for a variety of different activities and functions. There is even a video camera attachment for the added conveniences of video conferencing.
Unlike most devices of this nature, if something goes wrong and you need to replace it, all of your information is recoverable and completely secure. Using cloud based technology; the system is easy to use and allows for you to do almost anything you could do on your current TV, computer, or phone.
A simple connection via an Ethernet cable and a TV hook up is all you need. You can access stream of information and toggle back and forth between programs all at the touch of a button. You can make phone calls, or use services like Skype with ease.
Similar to Apple TV and Google TV, this device has an edge because it is more compact and offers a wider variety of functions and is a bit more user friendly at this stage. Offering a branded, personalized experience, Cisco says that the Videoscape will "reinvent the TV experience."
Though a release date has not been set, nor has a price point, Cisco demonstrated the device at CES 2011, and displayed many of the unit's functions. They even demonstrated control of the device via an iPad and an Android mobile device complements of a downloadable ap for your phone.
Just when the Videoscape hits shelves, we are not sure, but Cisco is very excited about this new venture and continues to improve upon the product before release. They want this device to stand apart from the competition, and have already displayed some of the numerous functions that will be available, though they have a tight lid on some of the specifics until it gets closer to a release date.
Through the wonders of fiber-optics, we now have more information available to us at faster speeds and in a variety of formats, but with the Videoscape, Cisco aims to bring you a device that can manage all of your activities from one place, and so far, they to not disappoint.
