Chris Klug Foundation to Auction Last Position on Leadville Trail 100 MTB Race Charity Team
Online, March 24, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Aspen, CO - The Chris Klug Foundation is hosting an online auction to fill the last available position on their Leadville Trail 100 MTB Race charity team. The auction is currently open on Charitybuzz.com and closes Wednesday, March 28 at 12pm MST. Proceeds go to the Chris Klug Foundation, which promotes lifesaving organ & tissue donation.
The mountain bike race, set to take place on August 11, is a challenging ride covering 100 miles of trail surrounding Leadville, CO. Due to the high demand in recent years, race registration is determined by a lottery system and is now closed.
The current charity team is comprised of nine Aspen residents including Chris Klug, the first organ transplant recipient to compete in the Leadville Race Series. Each team member is required to raise a minimum of $2,000 to benefit the foundation's programs. The Chris Klug Foundation's programs educate high school and college age students by using action sports and other school related programs as their platform. In 2011 they reached over 100,000 individuals and are well on their way of doubling that number this year.
The winner of the charity team auction, the final team member, will receive entry to the 2012 race, preferred starting position, a new custom team uniform, training program, race support and other perks. Everyone is eligible to bid on the auction http://www.charitybuzz.com/support/ChrisKlugFoundation through 12pm MST on March 28.
