The Chicago Tribune will announce the 2022 Silver Football awardee and a new partnership with the Union League Club of Chicago. Both organizations will conduct a joint press conference announcing the recipient and the cooperative venture on Thursday, Dec. 15, 2022, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Union League Club of Chicago, 65 West Jackson Boulevard.

The Silver Football Award has been presented for the past 98 years, starting in 1924. The football player selected for the award is voted on by all of the head football coaches in the Big Ten Conference.

"We are excited to work with an organization that has been so instrumental in the progression of the City of Chicago," said Mitch Pugh, executive editor of the Chicago Tribune. "Just as the Silver Football Award has a long-standing history, so too does the Union League Club of Chicago. The Chicago Tribune could not ask for a better partner."

"Just as the New York Athletic Club has built a long history with the William V. Campbell Trophy," said Thomas Karaba, president of the Union League Club of Chicago. "We are hoping the Union League Club can build a similar, long-standing history with the Tribune and this award."
