Chef Hoss Zare Won Hearts in San Francisco
Online, January 18, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Hoss Zare, renowned chef of Zare at Fly Trap, captivated a sold-out audience at Studio Gourmet, San Francisco's new interactive culinary event on Sunday, January 16th, 2011 held at Horatius in Potrero Hill. After a champagne greeting, Zare showed guests how to prepare Braised Italian Eggplant in the demonstration kitchen. Immediately following, guests got comfortable in the iconic Barn Door sitting area where Studio Gourmet founder Brad Lev interviewed Zare, uncovering engaging stories about his personal journey and passion for his craft.
Chef Zare, who was born in Iran, talked intimately about his close ties to his family, his first cooking job at his brother's restaurant, and meeting with Julia Child, whom he refers as "a classy lady and great inspiration." After the interview, guests were invited to mingle, chat with Zare, and enjoy small bites which were paired with wines selected by Horatius owner Horacio Gomes. For listening pleasure, Bossa nova music was performed by acoustic guitarist Ariel Eisen.
