'Chaos Theory' No. 1 in Satire, No. 2 in General Humor, No. 4 in Science Fiction & Fantasy on Amazon.com
Culver City, CA, November 27, 2015 (Newswire.com) - Gin & Tonic Press are excited to announced that Colin Robertson's 'Chaos Theory: Inceptus', part 1 of the critically acclaimed novel 'Chaos Theory', reached top placement in 3 separate Amazon.com bestseller categories.
Officially released on November 25, 2015, Chaos Theory: Inceptus has rocketed to the top of the charts, with over 1,000 copies downloaded in the first 12 hours. The science fiction satire has already garnered critical acclaim from the two largest book reviewers.
Robertson is adept at balancing the story's farcical and gritty elements. The book's violence is sudden and punishing, which underscores the high stakes and invests the story with a gravitas that makes its absurdist passages even funnier.
Kirkus Reviews
“... fine Dr. Strangelove–ian satire...exceedingly clever and entertaining and, at times, spot-on loony... there are also some sublimely silly passages whose deadpan musings recall the late Douglas Adams. ” – Kirkus Reviews
When the news all seems bad in the world, Colin Robertson's raucous farce, Chaos Theory, a "feel good story about the end of the world," puts an amusingly absurd spin on heavy affairs. His variety pack of eccentric characters--terrorists, politicians, and scientists--are sketched out in witheringly funny detail alongside a fast-moving plot. Despite the daunting premise, there's no fear in seeing this book through to the end (of the world). – Forward Reviews
Chaos Theory is the story of what happens when a thirteen-year-old boy, named Alex Graham, find the most dangerous weapon ever created and decides to sell it on eBay. Alex finds himself the target of US Intelligence, foreign governments, international arms dealers, fundamentalist Christians, an insane United States President and, of course, Islamic terrorists. His only hope is a CIA Agent, named Charlie Draper.
The problem is, Charlie is a broken man. Tormented by the death of his wife and daughter, Charlie has stopped caring much about anything. When Alex is orphaned by German Neo-Nazi soldiers-of-fortune, the two are thrown together on a desperate, dangerous and epic journey to find the meaning of life, the universe and everything and, hopefully, some half decent reason to keep it all going.
Ranging from laugh-out-loud comedy to, at times, heartfelt anguish, Chaos Theory is reminiscent of both the dark satire of Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse-Five and the outlandish wit of Douglas Adams's Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Colin Robertson is originally from Toronto, Canada, but moved to Los Angeles, CA in 2000. Despite this, he obstinately remains a Canadian citizen as a matter of principle and means of dodging jury duty. Determined not to be ruined by success, he decided to become an indie author in 2012 with the publication of his debut novel, 'The Siege of Walter Parks'. He is the author of several short stories and optioned screenplays and currently lives with his wife, son, daughter and very loud wheaten terrier in Culver City, California.
