CARE Awards Honor Child Stars-- Sisters Marlowe Peyton and Merit Leighton receive awards at Red Carpet Event

Merit Leighton, a 7-year-old actress , and her sister Marlowe Peyton a 5-year-old actress and singer from Valencia, CA will be honored with a C.A.R.E. (Child Actor Recognition Event) Award during a red-carpet ceremony at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Young Hollywood is hot and enjoys a 100% positive image at the 6th annual C.A.R.E. Awards, sponsored by BizParentz.org. CARE has earned a reputation as the "hot" event for the under-18 crowd thanks to the creativity of the event planners that make sure that each year's event is full of surprises.

Merit's been modeling since six months old, in catalogs and ad campaigns, but at the age of six she began her television and film career. Merit is a previous CARE award recipient and is thrilled to be receiving her second award recognizing her appearances in several national commercials, FUZE, Six Flags, Microsoft and Cox Cable.

Marlowe an actress and singer began her career at the age of four. She is being honored for her work in the feature film "The Back Up Plan" with Jennifer Lopez being released in March of this year, for her appearance on The Jay Leno Show and for her work on an independent short film called "At What Price" the first ever 100% sustainable film.

CARE Awards are based on a unique point system where young performers (18 and younger) must qualify with a combination of professional acting work in 2009, academics, union membership, training, a written essay, community service, parent industry knowledge, and several other criteria.

Merit and Marlowe are very passionate about helping their planet and are proactive about plastic and recycling. With their own money from acting, they are acting on their dream to help save the oceans by motivating kids everywhere to do the same! They created "The Plastic Patrol" www.theplasticpatrol.org in order to begin their global effort to make a difference... one kid at a time!

This years CARE event will take place at Universal Studios on March 14, 2010, to celebrate the positive ways children contribute to the entertainment industry. The 6th annual CARE Awards will be held at the Globe Theatre inside Universal Studios Hollywood. CARE honors over 150 of the industry's brightest young stars, for their positive contributions to the entertainment industry.
