Cancer CAREpoint Switches to NewOrg Management System

NewOrg Management System, a leading data management platform for nonprofit organizations and government agencies, today announces a successful implementation project for Cancer CAREpoint.

Based in San Jose, California, Cancer CAREpoint is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming support for cancer patients, survivors, family members, and caregivers in Silicon Valley through personalized one-on-one counseling, assistance, resources and education. All services are provided at no cost to patients and their families, no matter where they receive medical care or their cancer type.

"Our favorite thing about NewOrg is the responsive and supportive team, who take the time to learn about what we're trying to accomplish and then help us make the adjustments that fit our goals," said Morrigan Bruce, Director of Programs at Cancer CAREpoint. "Often we're able to do more than we expected, and we really appreciate the collaborative support."

Cancer CAREpoint was seeking an affordable HIPAA-compliant solution to document client-specific interactions and program activities in a streamlined and secure way. With NewOrg Management System, Cancer CAREpoint can manage intake processes and track client care and engagement for orientations, individual and family counseling program attendees, and streamline their wig-bank processing by leveraging a public web portal, secure document center, and other NewOrg features and tools.

"The new system had to work for our unique client care model, and it was clear from the first conversation that NewOrg's team understood this need and was ready to make this process as easy as possible for us," Bruce said. "As a smaller nonprofit going through a growth phase, we needed a partner in this system development process and we were able to find that in NewOrg."

Around 10,000 people in Silicon Valley are diagnosed with cancer each year, and thousands more are living as cancer survivors. Because of this, there will always be individuals and families who need emotional, practical, and psychological support to get through one of the most difficult experiences of their lives. Cancer CAREpoint is dedicated to ensuring that no one should have to face cancer alone.

"We had a registration system in place, but after some updates, we were no longer able to adjust our processes to fit within their framework … [and] needed a registration system that paired with a client care management system to allow easy registration for our clients and powerful reporting capabilities for staff," Bruce said. "NewOrg allowed us to create a system that adapted to our unique processes, rather than forcing us to adapt to their structure. It has given us the opportunity to better engage with how we manage our workflow and has actually improved our workflows in several key areas."

Cancer CAREpoint now has the tools and well-defined workflows to scale up their service delivery in a time when the need has never been greater. Automated NewOrg communication features, including trackable email campaigns, surveys, and reminders, are among a few tools the organization is now leveraging regularly, along with complex reports needed to track and share its activities with stakeholders.

"Everyone we've worked with at NewOrg has been completely dedicated to the needs of the nonprofit community and the focus on not just making something easy for clients but also easy on staff," Bruce said. "One of the most difficult things about implementing change is getting the staff energized and engaged … Our New Org support rep, Jared, in particular, has been a great help in terms of internal marketing to our team and is available to support staff as they dive deeper into their use of the system. Instructions are always tailored to our current level of system understanding and use, which allows staff to learn at their own pace."
