Campbell Scholars Program Celebrates 10 Years of Empowering Future Leaders

Campbell Scholars Program

The Campbell Scholars Program (CSP), a college access and success program designed to support low-income, high-achieving first-generation students from Title I schools along the college and career pathway, is proud to celebrate its 10th anniversary. The program extends the core resources, learning philosophy, and opportunities of the Campbell Hall independent school experience to participants from 6th grade through college graduation.

Founded in the summer of 2014 as the Summer Enrichment Pilot Program, CSP began with a group of ambitious 6th graders from Title I schools in the San Fernando Valley. These students, despite having never visited Campbell Hall before and only meeting the founding Executive Director John Rue once at their school, committed their summer to the program. By the end of that summer, every student agreed it was one of the best decisions they had ever made.

Ten years later, nearly all of these Campbell Scholars have graduated from selective colleges and universities, setting an inspiring example for the cohorts of scholars that follow. To date, CSP has served over 200 scholars and families, consistently emphasizing growth mindset, wellness, and belonging.

“This program is a beautiful example of how Campbell Hall can be a civic institution,” said John Rue, founding Executive Director. “Over 300 Campbell Hall faculty, staff, alumni, current parents, and parents of alumni have supported the scholars through mentoring, charitable giving, and extending opportunities. Over a dozen private foundations have also joined the cause, endorsing not only our program but also the values and philosophy it is built on.”

Key achievements of the Campbell Scholars Program include:

  • 204 Scholars and Families Impacted
  • 100% of Scholars are First-Generation College Aspirants
  • 95% of College Scholars Have Received Full-Tuition Scholarships
  • 577 Hours of Support Received by One Scholar Over 10 Years

As CSP looks to the future, the excitement continues to build. The program’s impact over the past decade is just the beginning. CSP looks forward to a new decade of hope, empowerment, and impact.
