Calkins Media, Comcast Announce Partnership to Make Local Video Available on Xfinity on Demand

In a first-of-its-kind agreement, local news, sports and entertainment programming from Calkins Media will be available to Xfinity TV subscribers in the Philadelphia suburbs.

Calkins Media, parent company of the Bucks County Courier Times, Burlington County Times, and The Intelligencer, announce an agreement with Comcast to have its videos carried on the company’s Xfinity On Demand service.

Comcast Xfinity TV customers in the Philadelphia market will be able to watch nearly a dozen daily and weekly programs on local high school sports, food, entertainment, and pet care; as well as local daily news reports from Bucks, Burlington and Montgomery counties. Shows and reports will be available to all Comcast subscribers through the On Demand portal.

It is the first time Comcast has included content from a local media company on its On Demand service. Comcast said the agreement signifies the company’s interest in delivering premium local content to its customers.
