"C & M Tapeless Bandage": An Alternative to Adhesive-Backed Bandages for Wound Treatment

The "C & M Tapeless Bandage" ends bandage removal pain all without need for sticky adhesives.

Ouch is the word most often heard when someone removes a bandage. That is not the case when this new product is utilized.  The C&M Tapeless Bandage provides consumers and health-care providers with an alternative to taped or adhesive-backed bandages for wound treatment. A wrap-around, Velcro®-fastening design holds a gauze-pad or dressing in place securely and comfortably – without the use of adhesives – the C&M Tapeless Bandage accomplishes the same end as taped or adhesive-backed bandages, yet does so without the painful and skin-damaging effects taped or adhesive-backed bandages can cause when removed.

The C&M Tapeless Bandage reduces the number of casualties suffering from wounds, often made worse, by the treatment received when adhesive backed bandages were used. It consists of a sewn cotton band produced in a variety of lengths and widths featuring Velcro pads at either end. The interior of the band is lined with a quilted cotton bating and is pre-shrunk, machine-washable. The C&M Tapeless Bandage is not a dressing intended for direct wound contact but rather a means of securing and covering such a dressing, which is often a gauze pad. Televised test marketing has recently been completed indicating strong consumer interest in the C&M Tapeless Bandage

The Patent Pending C&M Tapeless Bandage was invented by Martha Kopchak and Cindy Giering of Lehigh Valley, PA who said, “We viewed a friend suffering pain when the taped bandages were removed after having been treated for a burn and we all said Ouch. That was what induced us to design a re-usable, hygienic, comfortable and secure bandage without the need of tape or sticky adhesive. Some individuals cannot tolerate any type of tape and this provides the solution.”
