Breast Cancer Fundraiser With Springside Parkland Lions Hockey Team And Jay's Pink Trailer
Online, November 30, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Jay's Moving and Storage proudly supports youth efforts to raise awareness and money in the fight against breast cancer. Springside Parkland Lions hockey team from the Bantam A, South Female Hockey League recently chose to donate proceeds from two of their hockey games to support breast cancer research.
Carli Gray, daughter of one of Jay's staff members, plays for the Lions, and was thrilled that Jay's wanted to help support the hockey team's fundraising efforts by parking the pink trailer for breast cancer at the arenas for each of the games to help draw attention to the team's fundraising efforts. The Lions played teams from Weyburn and Estevan on October 20th and 21st and the girls got into the spirit of things, wearing their old jerseys from when they were the Springside Penguins (because they are pink).
Funds to support breast cancer research were raised at the door, with a 50/50 draw and also through donation. The girls raised $597.50 in total over the two games. When the folks at Jay's heard about the girl's resolution to hold this fundraiser, it was an easy decision to support them by helping to publicize the event with our pink wrapped trailer. We are proud to contribute to our communities and even more proud when we see young people stepping up to do the same.
There are few people whose lives haven't been touched by cancer in some way and this is why Jay's Moving and Storage has chosen to support Breast Cancer Action Saskatchewan as one of our main community commitments. How inspiring it is to see the commitment passing through our staff to the next generation. Congratulations and a big Thank You to all the members of the Springside Parkland Lions Hockey Team.
