Brazilian Hit Documentary "Who Cares?" Premieres at 2013 Social Enterprise World Forum

Film showcases the growth of dynamic social entrepreneurs and their impact around the globe and will screen to 1,200 attendees from more than 30 countries at this year's forum

Who Cares?, a popular social entrepreneurship documentary by Brazilian filmmaker Mara Mourao debuted in 2012 to critical acclaim in major cities around Brazil, including Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte and across top art house theaters. The film galvanizes people from all walks of life to consider how they can help eliminate major problems facing humanity by becoming change-makers through the examples of popular social entrepreneurs (such as Bill Drayton, founder of Ashoka and Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Muhammad Yunus) and other social entrepreneurs from a wide-range of countries, including Canada, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Tanzania, Switzerland, Peru, Germany, and the United States.

At this year's Social Enterprise World Forum (SEWF) taking place from October 2-4, it will screen before 1,200 individuals traveling from more than 30 countries and speakers coming from over 20 countries.

In late 2012 Who Cares? became available in DVD format around Brazil. It will be released internationally in the Fall of 2013 online via iTunes, Hulu, Amazon, and Vimeo. To date the film has been selected to more than 20 prestigious international film festivals around the world, winning best feature documentary, audience awards, and official selection accolades at the DocMiami International Film; FilmFest Washington, DC; Indonesia International Film Festival for Environment, Health, and Culture; New Zealand Wellington Film Society; New York City Independent Film Festival, etc.

Since its release, Who Cares? has become a movement on social networks internationally. More than 13,000 are connected with the film on Facebook and visit the film's site. The film also screened at the Social Enterprise Conference at Harvard University last year, and continues to be screened at universities and non-profits around the U.S. and Canada.

Mara Mourao is a prolific director of commercials, documentaries, feature films, and is based in Brazil. Her production company, Mamo Filmes, produces high quality content for the international marketplace.
