Boom Marketing Remembers Culture During the Holidays

The leaders at Boom Marketing are committed to maintaining a healthy, supportive company culture. According to the firm's president, they enhance their efforts during the hectic holiday season.

“The holidays can be stressful for anyone, particularly so for those in the sales and marketing industry,” said Whitney H., Boom Marketing’s president. “This is the busiest time of year for the brands we serve, making it the most demanding time for us as well. Subsequent stress presents itself in a number of ways, including increased distraction and decreased productivity. As such, my colleagues and I pay close attention to how our people are doing – and not just in terms of work. Even seemingly unrelated issues make an impact in the office.”

Whitney explained that these ideas all boil down to culture. She and the other Boom Marketing leaders remember their values of support and empowerment at all times. They know constant work is unhealthy and ultimately harmful to performance. That’s why they balance demand with fun, making sure they take breaks to discuss their holiday plans, celebrate with one another, and share their unique traditions.

"This level of togetherness is more powerful than high salaries and other benefits,"

“When I talk about paying close attention to how everyone is doing, I’m primarily looking for signs of stress and burnout,” Whitney continued. “I notice if they’re overly tired or irritable, for instance, and if there’s any tension between associates. My colleagues and I check in with them directly, too. We want to hear what they’re thinking and what they need. Of course, I also make a point to postpone performance reviews until after the holidays. Now is not the time for added stress!”

Additionally, Boom Marketing’s president highlighted the fact that a positive office culture spurs company loyalty. When managers make the time and effort to ensure their associates are as comfortable and engaged as possible, they communicate their appreciation. Their team members receive the message that they are valued, and such recognition doesn’t go unnoticed. The professionals become more motivated and connected than ever.

“This level of togetherness is more powerful than high salaries and other benefits,” Whitney concluded. “People want to work in environments where they are treated with respect, and where their feelings and needs matter. This level of commitment has facilitated our success up to this point, and I’m fully confident that it will continue to do so in 2016 and beyond.”
