Bonner Springs Ford Excited to Introduce Redesigned 2013 Ford Fusion This Fall
Online, May 18, 2012 (Newswire.com) - The New England Motor Press Association, with Boston's Museum of Fine Arts design experts and the Larz Anderson Auto Museum, has awarded the Gene Ritvo Award for Design and Elegance to the 2013 Ford Fusion.
Chris Hamilton, 2013 Ford Fusion chief designer, outlined key design elements used to set it apart from other midsize sedans.
The first innovation was in the revised silhouette. Most midsize sedans have a "three-box" design, following a delineated powertrain/cabin/trunk style. The 2013 Fusion has a much sleeker silhouette that appealed to the committee of design judges.
The second distinction was in the character lines. The sweep to the rear, and combine with the thin roof pillars to make the 2013 Fusion appear more efficient, "nimble, and light on its feet." Its refined surface was also designed to be tasteful and without "add-ons or visual clutter."
The functional design elements, including headlights, tail lights, and exhaust tips were used to "communicate enhanced technological capability."
The 2013 Ford Fusion also sets itself apart from others in its class with an impressive suite of driver-assist technologies more expected in expensive luxury cars. These include the Lane-Keeping System that uses steering wheel vibrations to alert the driver when the camera senses the car drifting from its lane, as well as Active Park Assist, which uses assisted steering and position sensors to take the frustration out of parallel parking. Also included on the list of tech features are Pull-Drift Compensation, Blind Spot Information System, and Adaptive Cruise Control with a collision warning system.
With so many exciting new features, inside and out, Bonner Springs Ford is anxious for the 2013 Ford Fusion to arrive this fall.
