The director also noted that PR is not the biggest incentive to engage in charitable giving. He reported that there’s an unmatched team-building element to it as well. Logically, it’s possible to make a bigger contribution to a given cause as a group of united people than it is on an individual basis. Coming together to build a community park or feed the homeless is highly rewarding, according to Thomas, and when the BM, Inc. team members share these experiences their bonds become stronger. This leads to better working relationships and greater performance in the office.

“Our approach to philanthropy is much like our approach to business,” Thomas continued. “We collaborate to identify which causes to support and conduct research to ensure that their values align with ours. Of course, we also set clear and attainable goals as well. If we’re conducting a coat drive, we determine the number of jackets we plan to collect by a given day. We regularly monitor our progress as well. If things don’t seem to be progressing as they should, we readjust our strategy. When we do achieve our goals, we celebrate accordingly.”
