Bitmen Studios Enters IPhone Gaming Market

Bitmen Studios has just released Air Force vs Luftwaffe for Apple's iPhone & iPad, a fast-paced action game set in World War II. Not only does it feature realistic environments, but it also stands out with its exciting gameplay.

Bitmen Studios' first title for the iPhone and iPad is a visually appealing fast-paced action game set during World War II. "We wanted to create game that stands out from the bulk of $0.99 games," says Mark. "We invested a lot of time into the visuals, but we have invested even more into the gameplay. The game has its own physics engine providing an enjoyable flight experience, and our team made sure that the controls are responsive to support the fast-paced nature of the game."

"Air Force vs Luftwaffe took us roughly six months to polish to a state that meets our quality standards," says Tim, Art Director at Bitmen Studios. "We've really invested quite some effort into the artwork and stereo sounds. It looks great on the iPhone but it is absolutely amazing on the iPad."

"During the design of the game, we had to decide whether we wanted to create a simulation or an action game," says Ben, lead programmer at Bitmen Studios. "We think that gaming should be about fun and therefore, whenever we had to decide between realism and making the game even more fun, we opted for fun."

"We wasted five generations of AI engines before we were happy with the fighter AI and have conducted a lot of usability tests to maximize the fun factor. Feedback from beta testers was very favourable, which makes us pretty confident that we have created a polished, distinct quality title we can be proud of."

About Air Force vs Luftwaffe

In Air Force vs Luftwaffe, players can join either the Allies or Axis and play a series of campaigns set in World War II. The game features 16 beautifully rendered airplanes including most famous airplanes from World War II like the Supermarine Spitfire, P-51 Mustang, Messerschmitt Me109 or Focke-Wulf Fw190. Players must complete missions and gain experience points which can be used to purchase upgrades for their airplanes.

Whenever a player gains a new rank, then he will unlock a new plane. There are twelve fighters to unlock. However, the new plane does not replace the existing one but all unlocked planes accompany the squadron leader during his missions. Content-wise, Air Force vs Luftwaffe features a wide variety of missions such as intense dogfights, interception, escorts, bombing runs, attacks on ships, airfield strafing and many more. There are lot of different scenarios, ranging from the North African Campaign to the Battle of Britain.

Air Force vs Luftwaffe will be available on Apple's App Store starting at May 6 for an initial launch price of $1.99 (iPhone/iPod touch) and $2.99 (iPad).
