Big Things in Small Packages: Aava Announces Debut of Natural White Ceramic Jar

Nordic-inspired home designer Aava has introduced the second of two ceramic serving jars.

The latest model, a smaller version of its predecessor, expresses the bare, beautiful character of Scandinavian design that, according to Aava’s website, is at the core of the company’s cutlery and kitchenware offerings.

“All of Aava’s products follow the artistic expression of Scandinavian design principles, which center on using the natural resources available,” the page reads, “to create simple, entrancing products that help you display your own sense of understated chic.”

The jar is a combination of pristine white ceramic (a material featured in all of the company’s new kitchenware) as well as a round, pale-wood top emblazoned with the unassuming Aava logo.

Though the jar features a square base, it maintains a soft expression through its rounded corners. That square shape gives way to a short, circular neck topped by the wooden lid.

When taken as a whole, the piece has the ability to bring a soothing, orderly sense to the kitchen when combined with multiple small jars or with the recently released large jars.

“Simple lines, rounded corners, and natural wood accents work together to create an elegant Ceramic Jar that looks exquisite on your kitchen counter,” the jar’s product description reads. “Whatever your décor, the Natural White Ceramic Jar with bamboo Lid fits in well.”

Looks aside, the jar exemplifies the heart of Scandinavian design philosophy – functionality. The jar is the perfect container for a variety of dried goods. Oats, grains, spices, sugar and flour can easily be stored in the jar. Contents are kept fresh by the durable, rubber-lined bamboo lid that fits snugly over the jar’s opening.

But kitchen ingredients aren’t the only things that can be stored in the natural white ceramic jar, the product description points out.

“Use it to hold all those small things that are left lying around because you don’t know where to store them,” the description reads. “Keep your counter, sink and desk space free of clutter and organized with multiple Ceramic Jars to hold everything you need to keep close at hand.”

The release of the small ceramic jar comes in the wake of a series of new products Aava announced over the past few weeks.

The company’s Milk & Sugar set is drawing praise for its simplicity and versatility. A wood-topped sugar jar and a sensible milk jar are joined on a rectangular plate to create a piece as comfortable at a café table for one as it is at a brunch table for 12.

Each product – whether cutlery or kitchenware – is crafted from the finest materials, the company’s website says.

“Expertly crafted from Finnish stainless steel and other premium materials,” the site says. “Aava provides you with supremely high quality items that have been recognized as the finest available.”

The Natural White Ceramic Jar is available for purchase on the Aava website, www.aavanordic.com, for $89.
