BENZ Inc. Introduces Flex 5 and Flex 5 Plus Adjustable Angle Heads to North America

BENZ Inc. introduces the Flex 5 and Flex 5 Plus adjustable angle heads to the North American market

BENZ Inc., a technological leader for the production of innovative machining heads for the wood, plastics and composites industries, has announced the availability of two adjustable angle head systems, the BENZ Flex 5 and Flex 5 Plus for the U.S. and Canadian markets. The new products will be on display in Las Vegas at AWFS Booth #9454.

“These are well-proven heads that we have been building for many years. Unfortunately, they were only available to certain machine manufacturing companies in Europe – until now! What makes the BENZ Flex 5 and Flex 5 Plus unique is their ability to change the output angles – utilizing the C axis.” explained Paul Roza, National Sales Manager of Wood, Plastics and Composites, BENZ Inc. “They are a specialized type of aggregate head that can add huge versatility and functionality to CNC routers in milling, drilling and sawing operations.”

Together, the BENZ Flex 5 and Flex 5 Plus comprise a premium series of heavy-duty, automatic, adjustable angle heads with oil bath lubrication. The typical output connections combine a saw blade flange with a flush-mount ER25 nut and collet system. With a maximum input speed of 15,000 RPM and a 1 to 1 gear ratio, these heads are ideally suited for sawing, drilling and routing.

Utilizing the movement of the C-axis (by program), the output angle can be changed in seconds. An onboard braking system locks the output angle in the desired position; once locked, the C-axis can be used to rotate the aggregate head within the horizontal plane.

The two angle heads provide a sawing swivel range from 0 to 90 degrees and a routing swivel range from 0 to 100 degrees, with a maximum blade diameter of 240 mm and a maximum rotation speed of 15,000 RPM.  An optional automatic tool changer, offering 15 second tool change with output connections, is also available. The BENZ Flex 5 and Flex 5 Plus cannot be retrofitted — customers interested in outfitting a CNC router with the BENZ Flex 5 or Flex 5 Plus should contact their OEM machine builder to ask for additional details and pricing.
