"Among other accolades, Boston's Bees Deluxe has a reputation for great musician ship and this CD oozes with that talent. Even with just seven tracks, the disc showcases jazz and blues - punched up with acid rock. The record is incredibly pleasing, perhaps taking center stage at a hip Manhattan party, or mellowing down easy in the comfort of your own home with a big cocktail or two. The instrumentals are the most striking, but guitarist-vocalist Conrad Warre, from Newton, has created interesting lyrics for the four songs he wrote."
Karen Nugent, Managing Editor
Bees Deluxe is comprised of musicians from Boston, Massachusetts and London England. The band features local musicians Carol Band, on keyboard, Allyn Dorr from Watertown on bass, Patrick Sanders of Melrose on drums and Conrad Warre of London on guitar and vocals. They’ve performed at Boston's House of Blues Foundation Room, Ryles Jazz Club in Cambridge, the Bull Run Tap Room, Johnny D’s and many other venues.
Their unique repertoire includes a wide range of original music and covers from Billie Holiday, Miles Davis, B.B. King, Kenny Burrell, Freddie King, Herbie Hancock, Albert King, Etta James, Muddy Waters, The Meters, Little Feat, Ray Charles, Jimi Hendrix, Roy Buchanan, Curtis Mayfield, The Butterfield Blues Band, Derek Trucks, Donny Hathaway, Amy Winehouse, Steely Dan, Etta James, ZZ Top, Robben Ford, Bonnie Raitt, Derek and the Dominoes, Robert Cray, Edgar Winter, John Scofield and more.
Taking the road less traveled, they discover and share off-the-beaten songs and instrumentals and fuse them into their own original works. They dare to be risk-takers on stage, digging deep into the vaults of blues/jazz antiquity. The result is an effortless take-no-prisoners-approach that wittingly captures the audience's hearts.
