Avamere Family of Companies Employees Reveal Their Experiences 30 Years on the Job
Loyal Avamere team members reflect on their time as employees
WILSONVILLE, Ore. , October 21, 2019 (Newswire.com) - Connie Ownby, Coding Specialist at Signature Healthcare at Home, and Janet Borelli, Director of Social Services and Case Management for Avamere Living, have been loyal team members with the Avamere Family of Companies for many years.
Borelli, who works at Avamere Rehabilitation of Oregon City, joined November 8, 1988, before her building became part of Avamere.
She decided to stay during the transition because of a story she heard of CEO Rick Miller, who mortgaged his home to meet payroll during the company’s beginnings. This stood out to Borelli as someone who truly cared about people.
Borelli holds that same value; she truly cares about the patients.
“I love to sit and talk to them and learn about their lives,” she said. “It’s very rewarding. It’s almost a spiritual journey for me.”
The patients, residents, and staff are like one big family, according to Borelli. The Avamere team is her support system.
“It’s what’s kept me with Avamere,” Borelli shared. “This is where I want to retire.”
Ownby, who works at the Medford, Oregon home health office, recently celebrated 29 years with Signature Healthcare at Home.
She joined what is now Avamere at Three Fountains on September 10, 1990, and moved to a home health office in 1998, which later became Signature Healthcare at Home. She filled several roles over the years, including intake and data entry, a CNA, billing, and a receptionist.
Ownby keeps up with changes in her industry by attending workshops and earning certifications. She is OASIS certified and certified in ICD-10, which she considers her biggest accomplishments in her career.
Her favorite part of the job is putting together the patient “puzzle” by reading patient history and noting diagnoses.
