Author Josie Harvey-Christian's New Book 'Marley Mongoose and the Hurricane' is a Captivating Children's Story That Takes Place on the Virgin Islands

Recent release "Marley Mongoose and the Hurricane" from Newman Springs Publishing author Josie Harvey-Christian is a meaningful children's story that follows the Mongoose family as they prepare for hurricane season.

Josie Harvey-Christian, a native of the Virgin Islands who grew up on the island of Saint Croix, has completed her new book "Marley Mongoose and the Hurricane": an engaging children's story that introduces Marley Mongoose and shares his concerns as a tropical storm approaches.

The final weeks of summer on the islands usually mean preparing for the unknown of hurricane season. The Mongoose family must make sure they are ready, and everyone on the island has started the early stages of preparation.

Hurricanes are dangerous and can cause quite major damage, from powerful winds to flooding. Marley Mongoose and his family have seen multiple tropical storms since living on the island. However, this hurricane feels different from past storms. Marley tries not to be nervous, but he is scared. He doesn't know how to talk to his parents. What if the neighborhood floods? Will the strong wings pull the roof off the house?

As the clouds start to get darker across the skies, Marley decides to run as fast as he can but suddenly realizes he is lost and cannot find his way back home. Trying not to panic, Marley discovers an unexpected place for shelter.

Josie Harvey-Christian shared many youthful adventures within a tight-knit community of family and friends as she was growing up. Living on the island, she experienced several hurricanes, with one notable memory of going through Hurricane Hugo, a category five storm. Inspired by her experiences, she wrote about Marley and the anxiety felt when facing storms.

Josie Harvey-Christian shares, "The dangers of a hurricane are very real, and anyone can feel stress and panic, no matter how big or how small they are. It's always okay to share your feelings with someone and even ask for help."

Published by Newman Springs Publishing, Josie Harvey-Christian's impactful tale helps young readers and listeners understand their feelings during times of distress.
