Apprenticeship Puts Terri-Ann On The Path To Success
Online, September 13, 2011 (Newswire.com) - The 2011 Proskills Awards will be held at Alton Towers on 3 November, both celebrating the achievements of people working in the process and manufacturing sector and also highlighting its wider commercial importance. Proskills has received hundreds of entries from a wide range of employers, learners, apprentices and training providers, demonstrating all that is best about the process and manufacturing sector.
Having completed her apprenticeship in record time, Terri-Ann Westerman has been nominated for the Advanced Apprentice of the year award. Now a fully-fledged member of staff at UK Coal Mining Ltd, Terri-Ann repairs and maintains plant machinery components to the highest standard. "She now works unaided on Caterpillar engines to the value of £150,000," said John Ellis, Terri-Ann's Manager. "She repairs and rebuilds axles, transmissions and gearboxes for machinery on our opencast sites."
This status has been hard-earned. Terri-Ann did not have any financial support during her apprenticeship but has proved her worth to the company through her commitment and desire to pick up new skills. "Terri-Ann has attended many courses to further her training and development and has specifically requested extra training in areas she feels she could improve on, such as cryogenics, manual handling and Nebosh," said John.
The Proskills awards ceremony promises to be a hugely enjoyable evening that will highlight the work of both individuals and companies in the process and manufacturing sector, while also offering important networking and sponsorship opportunities.
