Allegiance Returns From Rewarding Leadership Conference

The Allegiance team recently sent a group of its top performers to a leadership conference. The company's operational director took the opportunity to share some networking advice.

This leadership conference is an industry event that is held every quarter. It is a coming together of some of the best minds in marketing. For the Allegiance team, this was a great chance to network and to attend workshops and other learning sessions. According to the group’s leader, the event was quite a success.

“We really got a lot done at the conference,” he said. “The attendees were truly impressive. I am really glad that my team members got a chance to get to know some of the most influential personalities in our field. It was a great learning experience, too!”

"One of the best ways to accomplish this is to make introductions. Making connections with other professionals should result in both parties feeling grateful."

The group stayed at a prestigious hotel with access to a variety of amenities including a spa, pool, and gym. They took full advantage of staying in the same location as the conference. Doing so gave them additional opportunities to meet and get to know speakers and other attendees.

Allegiance’s Director Identifies Common Networking Mistakes

The company director took this opportunity to address some of the most common mistakes people make when networking. He stated that he and his management team teach every new professional at the firm how to network properly. In doing so, they have found many of the most typical misconceptions and bad habits.

“Networking is key when utilized in the right way to progress your skill set,” he said. “One of the best ways to accomplish this is to make introductions. Making connections with other professionals should result in both parties feeling grateful. However, it is all too easy to make bad connections. Consider using the double opt-in system to improve your results.”

This double opt-in system is basically a way to check that people actually want to be introduced to one another. “Contact both parties beforehand and let them know that you have someone they may be interested in meeting,” he continued. “Explain your reasoning and see if they both want to be introduced. This helps to ensure that the experience will be productive,” he continued.

Finally, the director advocated being clear with requests. “It’s unfair, yet common, to expect others to just know what you want, therefore, having a game plan and knowing who you’ll be speaking to and what their talents are is the best way to be prepared,” he concluded. “Misconception is that leaders are too intimidated to discuss their weakness in this industry,” he described “Make a mission of yours to discuss your weaknesses and find the solution in creating yourself to be a stronger entrepreneur.”
