Ali Jawad: Oil Production Expands Throughout North America
Online, September 14, 2012 (Newswire.com) - While American energy companies have provided the economy with swift expansion in recent months, those professionals involved with the Canadian oil industry are making plans to expand the country's oil production. A recent article from Reuters reveals that David Black-a Canadian press baron who runs Black Press Ltd-wants to build "what would be Canada's largest refinery at Kitimat, British Columbia, near the planned terminus of Enbridge's planned 525,000 barrel-per-day Northern Gateway line." While the project is expected to be a tremendous boon to the Canadian oil industry, American energy expert, Ali Jawad believes the plans could bring more business to the Midwest region of the United States.
According to the article, Black is planning to finance environmental studies that will take place over the next two years. It notes that as the project moves forward, Black expects investors to come forward to help fund the actual development of the plant. Expected to begin construction in 2014, with an estimated completion date in 2020, the plant is targeted to provide most of its fuel production to Asian markets. The article states, "The plant would produce 240,000 barrels a day of diesel, 100,000 of gasoline and 50,000 of kerosene or aviation fuel, from 550,000 bpd of diluted oil sands bitumen." Although the plans are still in their infancy, Black adds, "It's a big refinery. We are talking about revenues in the order of CA$22 billion a year. It would be one of the 10 biggest in the world."
Looking at the larger picture of oil production, Ali Jawad notes that there is already a heavy focus on processing Canadian crude in America. As co-owner and operator of Armada Oil and Gas Company in Michigan, Ali Jawad is focused on improving energy costs and development in the Midwest. Responding to Black's plans for expansion, Jawad comments, "British Petroleum has already built a refinery in the Midwest to consume Canadian heavy crude-also known as sand crude. And, Marathon Oil is already in the process of rebuilding their refinery in Detroit to consume the same crude. The Midwest has suffered over the past three years by having the highest gas prices in the nation during the peak of the economic crisis, adding to the burden of the people of the Midwest. I hope this expansion will bring the stability to the supply and prices in the Midwest that the people deserve. "
