Air India Express Opens Base in Dubai to Reduce Flight Delays
The base is expected to minimize the delays caused because of the lack of maintenance support. The airlines is also planning to offer more flights from Dubai to destinations in the Gulf or Europe with transfer connections at Dubai.
Online, April 26, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Vayalar Ravi, India's Minister of Civil Aviation, inaugurated Air India Express' Dubai base. AI Express has opened this base to improve the operation of all Air India flights in and out of Dubai.
Air India Express believes that setting up of the Dubai base will help the airline improve it's customer services and offer better connectivity. Dubai has become the hub of all leading businesses and offers a conducive environment for business growth.
Air India Express' Dubai base will be used to perform some of the maintenance activities, which are presently carried out in Mumbai. Apart from the maintenance, Dubai would also become an operational base for stationing the pilots, cabin crew and other personnel needed for stepping up flight operations.

The on time performance has increased after the airline positioned two aircrafts in Dubai. The airline expects to add 2 more aircrafts in the winter schedule of 2011, while two more are expected to join the fleet in 2012 next summer.
