Antarctic Dream, the 80-passenger expedition cruise ship with ice strengthened hull renowned for its longtime service in the Chilean Navy, has unveiled a new 8-day/7-night "Fly and Sail" Program for the 2011-2012 Antarctica travel season. The "Fly and Sail" option eliminates one of the Drake Passage sea crossings, offering travelers a more efficient way to visit The White Continent. The "Fly and Sail" program runs via two different itineraries that include a 1.5 hour flight - one leaves by plane from Punta Arenas, Chile and returns eight days later by sea to Ushuaia, Argentina, and the other leaves by sea from Ushuaia, Argentina and returns by plane to Punta Arenas, Chile. "This Fly and Sail program allows travelers to experience the exciting crossing of the legendary Drake Passage, the South Shetland Islands and the Antarctic Peninsula, but also reduces the regular itinerary by three full days by cutting out the second crossing of the Drake Passage, which is very appealing to those with limited holiday time," said Antarctic Dream Marketing Director, Pilar Fernandez.

What distinguishes Antarctic Dream expeditions from most Antarctic cruises is the extraordinary, hands-on access to wildlife, glaciers and massive icebergs provided by the smaller capacity vessel. Passengers of The Antarctic Dream often experience up-close encounters with fur seals, humpback whales, leopard seals and orcas, and are able to explore the blue, icy land during two-to-three hour daily zodiac raft excursions and a minimum of three kayaking expeditions per sailing.

Information-packed lectures are offered to passengers by the Expedition Leaders and additional presentations and workshops are offered by geologists, naturalists, and special guests, which include celebrated photographers, wildlife experts and award-winning scientists.

Antarctic Dream features a large dining room, library, auditorium, gym, sauna, laundry, satellite email/phone and boutique. Cabins have private baths, queen or twin beds, closed circuit TV, and inter-cabin phone service.

The 2011/2012 season is quickly approaching with the first expedition departing November 1st and trips available until March 6th. The 11day/10 night itinerary starts at $6,900 and the 8-day/7-night "Fly and Sail" trips start at $9,500. For more information, visit http://www.adventure-life.com/cruises/antarctica-cruises/.
