Acuity South Texas Receives Beacon Award for Excellence

Acuity Hospital of South Texas was recognized by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN)

Acuity Hospital of South Texas (AHST) has been awarded the Beacon Award for Excellence from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN). The Beacon Award is a national, three year award with gold, silver, and bronze designations. AHST is the first long-term acute care hospital (LTACH) to receive the award, which is generally presented to critical care and intensive care units.

In order to be considered for the national recognition, AHST had to meet national criteria consistent with Magnet Recognition, the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and the National Quality Award. The Beacon Award for Excellence is a significant milestone for facilities and it speaks volumes about the exceptional level of quality patient care provided by the caregivers at AHST.

"This is an amazing accomplishment for our facility. It is an honor to be the first LTACH facility, and the first hospital, to receive this award. We strive to provide exceptional patient care, and align our facility with the AACN's Work Environment Standards."

Kris Karns, CEO, AHST
