Actor/Director Turned Author Paul Michael Glaser Releases "Chrystallia and the Source of Light"

Popular Actor/Director Releases First Young Reader/Teen Novel of Fantasy Adventure Series

Actor, and director turned author, Paul Michael Glaser, today, has officially released the young reader/teen novel Chrystallia and The Source of Light. The fantasy adventure follows the story of two children who, on Christmas Eve find themselves on a magical quest through an underground medieval kingdom, where everything and everyone are made of minerals and crystals, in search of the source of light. It is a story beautifully suited to be read aloud to and by the whole family. This is the first of five novels Glaser will be releasing through Greenleaf Book Group. Glaser is perhaps best known for his role as David Starsky in the iconic 70's series Starsky & Hutch.

Chrystallia and The Source of Light is told in the voice of Maggie, a 13 year-old girl. It's her and her younger brother Jesse's last Christmas with their mother who is dying. It is also their last Christmas in their house, as the bank has forclosed on it. Maggie has lost faith and doesn't believe in anything except what she can see and touch. Jesse, 9, believes in the need to believe., Thus, the two embark on a fantastical journey that is a metaphor for that of Glaser's.

Glaser experienced a loss of his own with the death of his daughter, Ariel in 1988 and his wife, Elizabeth in 1994. Elizabeth contracted HIV through a blood transfusion while giving birth to their daughter, Ariel, and in 1981 established the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation - a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing pediatric HIV infections through AIDS research, advocacy, prevention and treatment programs before succumbing to AIDS herself. Mr. Glaser was Chairman of the Board for six years and then became its Honorary Chairman.

"I wrote Chrystallia to the child in all of us, and while dressed up in the entertaining tradition of Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz, Chrystallia, at its heart, asks the question: 'What is the purpose of fear in our lives?'" says Glaser. "I experienced through the loss of my wife and daughter, levels of helplessness that I had never experienced before, and I was fortunate to be given the opportunity to begin to learn how to recognize and deal with my fear of helpnessness. I have found it to be a powerful piece of knowledge and I wanted to share it with others in today's world that is so filled with fear."

"Paul has distilled the knowledge and gentle understanding of old with the wonder and limitlessness of possibility of youth to give us the gift of his light," states actress and New York Times Bestselling Author, Jamie Lee Curtis. "Magical and mesmerizing. A must read for a generation to share."

Chrystallia is currently available at selected Barnes & Nobles and Amazon.com. In addition, the book can be purchased at www.pmglaserschrystallia.com or www.chrystallia.org for a dedicated edition where a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
