A Short Film About a Middle-Aged Online Acquaintance "At Last" Wins Two International Film Awards

The short film "At Last," from the producers of "Behind the Blinds aka Filmmaking 101" Anna Skrypka and Charles Ancelle, was honored with two international festival awards.

At Last

The 12 Months Film Festival, an international film event for filmmakers from all continents, has chosen “At Last” as Fiction of the Month. The International Independent Film Awards named the film Narrative Short Gold Winner 2016.

“At Last” is a romantic comedy about a socially awkward middle-aged man. His online girlfriend unexpectedly turns up at his house with the clear intention to become physically intimate. The film was shot at one location in Los Angeles based on Skrypka’s original idea and script.

"We are excited that festival juries appreciated the acting as well as our compelling and simple story. It is both this good start at the festival circuit and the positive feedback from industry professionals that inspire us to make a feature film based on 'At Last,'"

Charles Ancelle, Film Producer

“The characters represented in this story are very often left out from modern films. So we did our best to fill the gap, and keep the plot light and entertaining,” says Skrypka.

Currently “At Last” is collecting awards and nominations around the globe, including Best Director (International New York Film Festival) and Best Comedy and Best Actor in a Leading Role (The International Filmmaker Festival of World Cinema Nice).

“We are excited that festival juries appreciated the acting as well as our compelling and simple story. It is both this good start at the festival circuit and the positive feedback from industry professionals that inspire us to make a feature film based on ‘At Last,’” shares film producer Ancelle.

“At Last” is still participating in a number of festivals and will be released for a general audience on ASCA Films Channel in June 2016.

The creative tandem Skrypka and Ancelle is known for producing the web series “Behind the Blinds aka Filmmaking 101.” Their first comedy “John Bondage” was among the nominees at the Short Film Corner Festival de Cannes; the film also received the Best Actor award at the International Film Festival of Cinematic Arts and various positive reviews. The American-Filipino film “Waves” had a successful wide release in the Philippines and will soon be released in Europe.
