A New Fish in the Sea - SkillCount

SkillCount offers an exciting site that allows users to demonstrate their skills, interact with peers and efficiently find new talent

Martinez, Ca. May 26th, 2010 - SkillCount, an online community that helps people connect and work together, announced the public launch of their site today. Prior to today, the SkillCount site was only open for a select group of beta testers while errors were corrected and new features were implemented. After a month of testing, SkillCount has lifted their beta clearance and opened the site for all to participate. With humble user base and limitless optimism, SkillCount offers a new way for people to display their talents and search for work.

A SkillCount user will be able to upload samples of their work and receive validation of their abilities through a process of challenges, ratings, and the SkillCount. After a user completes a challenge in one of the categories (Graphic Design, Photography, Writing, or Video Production) and uploads their submission to SkillCount, the community will rate that submission on a scale of 1 through 5. The end result will be a SkillCount - a number assigned to that user's portfolio based on the peer review.

"SkillCount is not about who you know, its about what you can do, and how well you can do it," stated SkillCount founder, Woody Hunt. "No longer are you competing against people who have the 'inside track' for a job or project... [you're] competing on skill alone." Through this new approach, SkillCount will create a hiring process that is less complex and more efficient. "Its so much easier to find a job," says Hunt, "show off your skills and the work will come!"

By using the SkillCount rating system, Hunt plans to make skill and ability in the job search more transparent than ever. Although SkillCount can be used by anyone, Hunt says "its most useful as a business tool to help employers find the most talented employees and contractors with the least amount of time and research. Its also a tool for those job-seekers and project-seekers looking to be found."

As SkillCount grows, Hunt states the site will focus on serving its users while helping people connect and work with their peers. As for Hunt's short term goals, he answers, "World domination, of course."
