A Much-Needed Stroke of Optimism in Art: Vladimir Kush Finds Metaphorical Realism
LOS ANGELES, June 1, 2018 (Newswire.com) - For the first time in art history, a new perspective on surrealism bore an entirely new branch of art. Founded by Russian-born American painter, sculptor, and jewelry artist Vladimir Kush, Metaphorical Realism introduces much-needed romantic and optimistic artistic movement that is rooted in the subtle thread that binds real people, places, and objects together.
"Any metaphor has its own story to tell. Metaphor 'sees' through centuries, unveiling the images of the world and connecting notions created by civilization. At the same time, metaphor can easily reflect the complexities of our modern life, with its ambiguity and contradictions," explains Kush.

While paintings and drawings have long been the main focus of Kush’s work, many of his ideas have since expanded beyond the flat surface of the canvas, evolving into bronze and silver sculptures, high-end jewelry pieces, and accessories. From fine paintings to extraordinary purses, the artist is incredibly rare in that he is able to offer collectors several different mediums under the same artistic concept.
Kush grew up in Russia at a time where his only means of travel was his own imagination, a circumstance that greatly influenced his artistic style. At the age of seven, he entered art school in Moscow and continued to develop his craft for 10-plus years. A true portrait of the “American Dream,” Kush eventually raised enough money to make his way to the states, where without starting capital and any investments from outside, he became the only American artist of Russian origin to become a successful and independent manager of his enterprise.
Kush went from drawing portraits on the Santa Monica pier in Los Angeles to opening his own chain of galleries in several high-traffic tourist destinations, including Las Vegas, Maui, and Laguna Beach, California, where his brand of Metaphorical Realism is showcased in multiple genres of drawings, etchings, paintings, limited edition prints, sculptures, jewelry, and accessories. In 2012, at the Artistes du Monde – Cannes Exposition Internationale, Kush received the prestigious First Prize in Painting, which was presented to him by Marina Picasso. Additionally, he is also a publisher of the most unique art books, as well as award-winning children’s stories, books, and apps.
