5th Driving Wheel For Hospital Beds With OpenBus Systems

New motorised 5th Driving wheel for hospital beds will ease the burden for hospital porters and nurses and bring safety, comfort and efficiency into the hospitals.

The new accessory for the advanced OpenBus system from LINAK will help hospitals reduce injuries and sick days.

The 5th Driving Wheel for hospital beds and other medical applications will ease the burden for hospital porters and nurses who spend a lot of their time and effort moving and manoeuvring, particularly beds, but also other medical applications, around a hospital.

This is hard, time consuming, work. Hospital beds are heavy and difficult to handle, especially with patients in them. For both porters and nurses, the risks associated with this work are high and it can potentially wear them down and cause injuries and sick days.

With the 5th Driving Wheel as an aid in the daily work, the amount of injuries and sick days can be reduced dramatically for both nurses and porters.

It will aid the nurse in manoeuvring beds in and out of the rooms and in place, while it will aid the porter in moving the beds over longer distances inside the hospital, e.g. from hospital ward to operating room.

For patients the smooth operating wheel will increase comfort when they are moved around in their beds and patients, nurses and porters will all feel safer with the 5th driving wheel as an aid in all bed moving activities.

The 5th Driving Wheel is an extra motorised wheel mounted under the bed or other medical equipment. The complete set including motor and all other components is 280 mm long and 185 mm wide and thus fits perfectly on most hospital beds.

Top speed is 4 km/h and fitted on a typical hospital bed it can run for 2 km with a load of 200 kg on a fully charged battery. It is easy to control and is compatible with all LINAK OpenBus control boxes.

The battery is compatible with all LINAK OpenBus control boxes and controls and is charged via an OpenBus plug to the control box and therefore in no need for a power supply. The control is also compatible with all LINAK OpenBus control boxes as well as the LINAK 5th Driving Wheel control unit. It can be equipped with different hooks to fit the different head and foot boards.

With the 5th motorised wheel, porters and nurses are less exposed to injuries and sick days caused by moving and manoeuvring hospital beds around. Fewer injuries and sick days mean more effective care which benefits patients and hospital staff as well as hospital management.

The 5th Driving wheel is partly a third party product.
