10th Annual Festival on the Bay - Groove to Blues, Rock and Reggae
Online, August 8, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Petoskey's 10th Annual Festival on the Bay will be held Friday, August 17 to Sunday, August 19, and will celebrate with more great music than ever before.
On Friday and Saturday, festival-goers can dance, jam and groove by the bay to a great line-up. There will be eleven bands rocking the Entertainment Tent, which is sponsored by Odawa Casino. Bands will start at 5:00 p.m. on Friday and noon on Saturday, performing until midnight both nights.
Friday night's entertainment kicks off at 5:00 p.m. with Ribo & the Flavinauts who cover a wide variety of bands from The Cure to The Grateful Dead. At 6:15 p.m., Jelly Roll Blues Band will take the stage, entertaining people of all ages with their fascinating blend of multiple styles of music, featuring blues, rock, jazz, and swing.
At 8:00 p.m., the community-favorite Petoskey High School Steel Drum Band will be performing so come early to get a great seat! Then it's time to get up and dance to the sounds of Ten to Midnight at 9:00 p.m.
Friday night's headliner is Brent James and the ContraBand which begins at 10:30 p.m.
Classic rock influenced with a modern rock twist, shaken up and poured into a shot glass full of groove, this band sets the standard in performances. With the slick soulful sounds of Brent James to the pure groove of the Contraband, you will understand why they have opened for and supported such greats as Billy Squier, Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent and Whitesnake.
DJ Steve Dub will starts things off at noon on Saturday. The ever-popular Hipps-N-Ricco takes the stage at 2:00 p.m., and this Blues Duo produces a lot of sound, especially the harmonica licks blown by the one and only Charlie Witthoeft (Hipps).
Boyne River Remedy will perform their high-energy show at 4:30 p.m., always pleasing audiences of diverse ages and backgrounds. At 6:30 p.m., Born Suspect will take the stage to share sultry vocals, guitar chops, and absolute love of all things rock'n'roll, all backed by a heavy rhythm trio and driving guitar.
Larry McCray will be taking the stage at 8:00 p.m., and his savage blues-rock guitar and warm, soulful vocals have drawn attention worldwide. His career highlight was when he was honored as the Orville Gibson 2000 Male Blues Guitarist of the Year (Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton were also nominated). Let's welcome Larry back to the Festival on the Bay stage!
Saturday night's headliner is the Donald Kinsey Band at 10:00 p.m. Donald Kinsey is an American guitarist and singer, best known as a member of The Wailers Band, the reggae backing group for Bob Marley & The Wailers. Kinsey is one of three sons of the late Chicago blues performer, Big Daddy Kinsey. He is a member of The Kinsey Report, which he formed in 1984 with his brothers Ralph Kinsey and Kenneth Kinsey, plus Ron Prince. Donald Kinsey previously toured and recorded with Albert King, Peter Tosh, Bob Marley & The Wailers and Roy Buchanan.
The entertainment tent is located in the Ed White Ballfield, and beer, wine, pop and water will be available for purchase. Buttons are on sale at the Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce office for $5 and provide weekend-long admission to the Entertainment Tent. Without a button, there will be an admission fee of $5.00 per person, per day during festival.
