San Francisco, CA, October 20, 2015 (Newswire.com) - Some scholarship-granting institutions want to change the fear associated with skill-based learning. One attractive new scholarship opportunity for high school students will soon provide them with practical experience while they vie for a cash prize of $10,000. The contest, co-founded by Dr. H. Lee Mosbacker, a physicist, and Dr. Allyson Shortle, a political science professor, aims to get high school students interested in skill-based learning, across any and all academic disciplines.
Scholarship applicants will be challenged to develop a social media campaign strategy for a company’s newest app release, which provides customizable social media maps. The top individuals and teams will then be flown to San Francisco to pitch their plans to a team of marketers and entrepreneurs in the Bay Area. The competition is the first in a series of attempts by educational organizations across the country to nurture dynamic thinking at early educational and career stages.
It's nearly impossible to launch a successful company without a creative marketing campaign. Highschoolers have an advantage over many professionals that have been marketing for years since they've grown up with social media the majority of their life. I'm excited to see what they come up with
Anna Lendl , Director $10,000 Scholarship Challenge
The contest is accepting applications through November 1st 2015. Contact stations@belocol.com for more information.
