Fitness trends come and go, however with the recent economic uncertainties many traditional gyms and fitness facilities have been struggling.
It appears though that a few areas of the market are emerging as being viable for sustained growth; low cost budget gyms with minimal staffing and facilities, and also niche specialist gyms.
In QDos Fitness Adam Chapman has developed a fitness facility in South Manchester that will be opening in August 2013, that will be pioneering in the fitness world. From a brown field site it has been developed out to an 11000 sqft 2 storey construction. QDos Fitness wants to take the best elements of traditional gyms; quality changing facilities, plush reception area, members kitchen, secure parking along, with the best of the niche gyms; expert coaching functional fitness classes using basic but effective equipment: "I wanted to create a bespoke facility that brings together the best elements of training systems out there which are suitable for all, from pro-athlete to housewife which is why we will be having CrossFit, Gymnastics, Kettlebell training, Yoga, Boxing and MMA conditioning. I also wanted our facility to be the kind of place that people come to who weren't inspired by their current gym. We want people to get to know each other in our gym; we want people to become a community in itself, where the other members almost become coaches to each other."
The facility itself will be a local talking point, from the multiple pull up rigs dotted around the exterior along with indoor and outdoor Astrotuf strips, an interior design company has been involved to help make sure QDos Fitness doesn't fit the norm of chrome and glass; giant tyres that hang from the ceiling as light fittings and rugs made from Astroturf in the relaxation area are some of the features that make this building stand out, however Adam Chapman insists QDos is more than just a design statement: "Yes I wanted a bold design and I wanted our various features to be a talking point and I also wanted to work and play in an inspiring place, but QDos will primarily succeed because the amazing people that have come on board, here we don't have staff, we have coaches."
