C.A.R.E Awards Honor Child Stars-Sisters Merit Leighton and Marlowe Peyton To Receive Award-

Actresses Merit Leighton, 8 years old and Marlowe Peyton, 6 years old from Newhall, CA, will be honored with a C.A.R.E. (Child Actor Recognition Event) Award from the BizParentz Foundation during a red-carpet ceremony at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Actresses Merit Leighton, 8 years old and Marlowe Peyton, 6 years old from Newhall, CA, will be honored with a C.A.R.E. (Child Actor Recognition Event) Award from the BizParentz Foundation during a red-carpet ceremony at Universal Studios Hollywood, on April 30th 2011.

Merit has been modeling since 6 months old, in catalogs and ad campaigns, and began her TV and Film career at age 6. She is a three time C.A.R.E awardee and is being recognized for her work in the USA Networks short film "Monster Slayer" starring as Bea along side Timm Sharp and Alicia Goranson, the Indie Feature "Grooming Giselle" and her work in the short film "Specifically" - directed by actor turned director George Newbern. Merit says" I look forward to the C.A.R.E. awards every year, it is such a special day for us."

Merit's younger sister, actress Marlowe Peyton began working in TV and Film at the age of 4, she has being honored with her second C.A.R.E award, for her work as Emma on Special Agent Oso airing on the new Disney Jr. channel as well as her appearances on Parenthood and United States Of Tara.

Merit and Marlowe are both homeschooled and have worked for two years on a project called "The Plastic Patrol" www.theplasticpatrol.org. The girls heard there was a trash dump in the ocean called the "North Pacific Garbage Patch" on Oprah's Earth Day program, they decided to do something about it and The Plastic Patrol was born. The Patrol is all about teaching kids how they can help. Marlowe says, " The Plastic Patrol is very important to us, we can help save the oceans, kids can make a difference, please come help us."

C.A.R.E Awards are based on a unique point system where young performers (18 and younger) must qualify with a combination of professional acting work in 2010, academics, union membership, training, a written essay, community service, and several other criteria.


Merit and Marlowe and the rest of Young Hollywood will be walking the red carpet and enjoying a 100% positive image at the seventh annual C.A.R.E. Awards. Celebrating the positive ways children contribute to the entertainment industry. Held at the Globe Theatre inside Universal Studios Hollywood. C.A.R.E honors over 150 of the industry's brightest young stars, for their positive contributions to the entertainment industry. Awardees will receive red carpet entrance to Universal Studios, private awards luncheon, engraved trophy, gift bag, collectible souvenirs, and entrance to Universal Studios Theme Park for a day of kid-oriented fun following the event.
