And to Recognize Our 2010 Non­Profit Awardee:
The Women's Free Homeless Clinic (WFHC)
Today the Santa Barbara Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications announced that they will honor Lois Phillips, Ph.D. as their Member of the Year for 2010 and also recognize the local Women's Free Homeless Clinic (WFHC) as their 2010 Nonâ€Profit Awardee at their Annual Holiday Party and Fundraiser, " 'Tis the Season," taking place at the Canary Hotel in Santa
Barbara.

Lois Phillips, Ph.D., author of Women Seen & Heard, conference speaker, consultant, educator, and founder of Strategic Change Associates will be honored as AWCâ€SB's Member of the Year. Dr.
Phillips provides consulting services to schools, colleges and universities, as well as governmental agencies, commissions, and the nonâ€profit sector with regard to strategic planning processes. She
also coaches executives how to deliver dynamic presentations and speak to the media. Dr. Phillips, a founding board member of AWCâ€SB and local chapter president from 2007â€2009, was honored
as "Chapter Star" at the AWC 2008 national conference in Seattle.

The Women's Free Homeless Clinic (WFHC) was chosen as AWCâ€SB's 2010 nonâ€profit awardee because of the clinic's focus on improving the lives of women in need. WFHC is part of the non†profit volunteer organization, Doctors Without Walls­Santa Barbara Street Medicine
, which is under the guidance of Dr. Mimi Doohan. In 2005, Dr. Doohan founded the organization to provide free medical care for the most vulnerable of Santa Barbara County. The WFHC operates out of Transition House as a biweekly walkâ€in clinic and day center with confidential reproductive health services, counseling, shower facilities, laundry, child care and lunch. Transportation is furnished as well.

Annual Holiday Party attendees are asked to bring items for donation for the Women's Free
Homeless Clinic. The women are in need of travelâ€size toiletries, such as shampoo, moisturizer, soaps and deodorant, as well as new undergarments, all sizes. Monetary donations are also
welcome.

This event will take place at the Canary Hotel, 31 W. Carrillo St., Santa Barbara, and will include
complimentary hors d'oeuvres. Cost: $50 in advance, $60 at the door for members and guests. Students $10 in advance and $15 at the door. RSVP at www.awcsb.org. Complimentary press admission is available; please email awcsb@hotmail.com in advance to RSVP.
