The Ten Best Parenting Books For Parents of Teenagers

Finally, a website highlighting the best parenting books aimed at helping parents of teenagers. Not 50 books to sort through, but only the top ten best parenting books around. Not for parents of toddlers and young ones, but parents of teenagers.

Finally, a website highlighting the best parenting books aimed at helping parents of teenagers.

As a parent of five teenagers, I started this website TenBestParentingBooks.com this month (Aug 2010) dedicated to finding the best parenting books for parents of teens. Not toddlers. Not the first three years. Not little kiddies. NO. I need some meat. Most parenting books and magazines at doctor's office deal with the cute years.

Why does parenting teenagers get relegated to the landscape of, say, the planet Jupiter? Besides, as a parent of teens, I already feel I'm on Jupiter. The reason is solely because parenting teenagers is no longer cute.

I tell you, of course you with a teen already know this unfortunate fact, parents of teens need the most help and yet are the most underserved. We are going through the toughest battles. Okay, I'm not crying "boo hoo," I just want to state a fact as the preface to an announcement.

I'm here to announce a new website, TenBestParentingBooks.com, that focuses on the needs of parents of teenagers.

As a dad looking at other dads and their families, I often get the sense that the others must be doing a better job than me at parenting? Honestly. That's how I feel 90% of the time. After reading a few of the best books on the subject of parenting teens, however, I discovered: I'm normal. And, get this, I'm doing a fairly good job, comparatively. (Though, to get a real accurate score of course, talk to my teens. They're probably less biased then me, I imagine.)

To keep up with the computer games, the electronic hand-held toys, the busy schedules of school, the sports, the friends with cars, the new mobility to race around, the dangers of glamour and temptations via the lax media, the loss of social standards in general... It's enough to keep us so busy that we feel we can't keep up and that we are likely just plain falling behind. Our kids are way ahead.

Stop for a minute. It will always seem like that, but parents give something to every teenager, something they inherently do not have yet need abundantly. That's right, love. Parental love. It doesn't always come out like we want it to, so, that's why I'm here recommending to pick up a good book on the subject.

Our responsibility as parents is vital. You probably are doing a great job. But like myself, it just seems impossible in the catch-up in the world we live in. Yet, all ten books I've read and highlighted on the TenBestParentingBooks.com website give reassurance that parenting is a winnable job.

You will discover that others have figured out some pretty cool, helpful things regarding teenagers. You don't have to be the guinea pig for the social scientist living inside the social experiment. Instead, get some "get-ahead" advice for parenting your teen. It already exists. Each of the ten best books for parents, specifically, for parents of teenagers, is a "must read."

I'm a dad of five boys. You can call me the "soccer dad." Used to be anyway. Going from one side of town to the other for different sons different practice locations. Now. They are all teens or twenties. And it's none easier.

Now, it could be late night outs or angriness or pot smoking or car dents or girl friends or not enough food or forever computer games or no motivation to do anything or "whatever, dad." It's tough. If you are lucky enough NOT to have to deal with these things, then secretly tell me what planet you are on and how to get there.

As an earthling dad, though, the new website TenBestParentingBooks.com is a great place to discover the best books for learning the craft and skill of parenting teenagers. Be assured, your teens can turn out better than imagined. With you intact, nonetheless.
