Siborg Systems Inc. Expands Smart Tweezers and LCR-Reader LCR-meters Accessibility in Russia with New Distributors
Moscow, Russia, September 22, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Waterloo, Ontario based Siborg Systems Inc. has expanded the distribution channel for Smart Tweezers and LCR-Reader LCR-meters in Russia by adding SPE Group, Novosibirsk, and SPE Group, Moscow, to the growing list of distributors worldwide.
Smart Tweezers are an alternative tool for testing and troubleshooting Surface Mount Technology (SMT). Unlike conventional testers, Smart Tweezers doesn’t require both hands to work the test probes, nor does it require the user to stop and set-up for the next measurement. Surface Mount Technology is the leading manufacturing method of electronics, in which tiny components are mounted directly to a Printed Circuit Board (PCB). The small components, referred to as Surface Mount Devices or SMDs, are generally unlabelled due to their size. This can complicate keeping track of the components or their values. Smart Tweezers unique design allows for an easier way of determining the type and values of components. Smart Tweezers are the combination of a set of tweezers and an LCR-meter in a one-handed-use, nearly pen-sized device. To test a component, all the user needs to do is grasp the component between the tweezers. Automatically, Smart Tweezers will determine the type of component and best test range and signal frequency, then measure for Inductance, Capacitance, or Resistance, while also measuring for secondary values such as the Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR).
"Smart Tweezers allow to measure a variety of parameters on a PCB due to its design. It does not require desoldering of the components and therefore simplifies PCB testing significantly."
Michael Obrecht, Director of R&D at Siborg Systems Inc.
“Smart Tweezers and its latest model, the LCR-Reader, allow to measure a variety of parameters on a PCB due to its design. It does not require desoldering of the components and therefore simplifies PCB testing significantly.” says the Director of Research and Development at Siborg, Michael Obrecht.
Siborg is very excited to have new distributors offering Smart Tweezers among their lines of products. These distributors include SPE Group and Premier Electric.
SPE Group (Scientific Professional Equipment Company) is a supplier of high-tech professional equipment for scientific research for the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. THe company offers equipment from leading scientific equipment manufacturers such as Leica Microsystems, Tektronix, Hameg Instruments, etc.
Premier Electric is a distributor of electronic and electromechanical components. Its high-performance logistics and high skilled personnel allow to deliver components and offer solutions in the shortest time and optimal price.
There are two models of Smart Tweezers currently available; the professional ST-5S model and the consumer model, the LCR-Reader. Both devices offer high accuracy measurements in a 1 oz. device. The LCR-Reader was designed for non-professionals looking for a device like the ST-5S but without the high price. The LCR-Reader retails for under $200, this was achievable by omitting some features found on the ST-5S model. LCR-Reader offers features such as:
-Automatic Inductance, Resistance, Capacitance and ESR evaluations
-1% basic accuracy (about the same as ST-2 and ST-3 models)
-Best range selection
-Fixed 0.5 Vrms (this may impede testing some types of capacitors, including ceramic)
The ST-5S is the professional base model, with more features and higher accuracy, as well as having an NIST traceable calibration certificate. Features include:
-Fully automatic L, C, R and ESR values
-Adjustable test signals of 0.45 and 0.9 Vrms
-Component sorting with 1%, 5%, 10% and 20% tolerances
-Active and reactive impedance components displayed
-Parasitic offset subtraction feature
-Continuity and diode testing
Smart Tweezers ST-5S has a multi-directional button which allows users to easily change measurement settings without entering the menus. When more specific measurement parameters are needed, users can change settings in the menus which can be viewed in the Smart Tweezers ST-5S youtube video.
Smart Tweezers popularity has grown exponentially over the past 10 years of availability. It has become and industry proven tool and is indispensable for all applications including use on production lines. It has become a well known tool for quickly and accurately testing and troubleshooting Surface Mount Technology, and is currently used by many major high-tech companies worldwide.
