Destin Charity Wine Auction Set for April, 2014
Online, March 15, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Wine Spectator Magazine called it "one of the top ten charity wine auctions" in the country. The Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation in Destin, Florida, for nearly a decade has held the multiple event fundraiser on the fourth weekend of April, raising funds for twelve different charities including Habitat for Humanity, Food for Thought and the Emerald Coast Children's Advocacy Center.
Each year, the annual wine auction gains global attention, drawing attendees from all around the world. Celebrity Vintners, wine aficionados from across the globe and award winning gourmet chefs all gather in the Gulf Coast city to raise money for charities that have impact on the lives of children who are in need.
The event begins on April 25th with a "Patron Dinner" held at many of the Emerald Coasts finest homes. Each dinner features a meal prepared by a well-known and respected gourmet chef paired with the ideal wine provided by the Celebrity Vintners.
"I've been involved with the Destin Charity Wine Auction for years," stated Brendan Orr, Executive Chef of the Roof Top Cafe, a Key West restaurant represented in the auction by the awarding winning chef and his innovative New Island Cuisine. "It's wonderful to be a part of something that changes young lives for the better. World-class wine, gourmet cuisine and we get to help the kids, too? I wouldn't miss it."
Following an evening of wining and dining, both the silent and the live auction will be held on the 26th of April under a climate controlled tent on the North Lawn of the Sandestin Town Center. The silent auction and reserve tasting begins promptly at 1 pm, followed by the live auction at 3 pm.
The weekend closes out on Sunday, April 27th with the sophomore South Walton Beaches Wine & Food Festival. Actually founded more than 25 years ago, the South Walton Wine & Food Festival celebrates its second year with new branding and affiliation with the Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation. The proceeds from the festival go to the DCWAF for the benefit of the children who need it.
