For many who are in desperate need of drug and alcohol addiction treatment, the treatment programs options are often determined by cost and hampered by lack of insurance coverage.

For those clients who are lucky enough to have health insurance that covers drug and alcohol rehab, many struggle with the length of stay the insurance company will cover. While many insurance policies cover up to 30 days in a residential center, very few clients actually receive the full 30 days covered. According to the Treatment Research Institute in Philadelphia, the average duration covered by insurance is 11 to 14 days, and after that insurance companies stop paying, and some facilities discharge patients before their treatment is done.
