One Million Facebook Apps As PageHub Celebrates Landmark Week

Brighton startup PageHub has delivered a million Facebook apps on behalf of leading name clients just as it made the finals of the London IBM SmartCamp entrepreneur competition.

An innovative start-up working with digital and creative agencies is celebrating a double success after just nine months in business.

PageHub, a social app and insight platform, has cleared the milestone of delivering one million apps to Facebook users on behalf of some of the world's leading brands.

The company is also toasting success as one of five finalists in the prestigious entrepreneur competition, the London IBM SmartCamp, part of Global Entrepreneurship Week.

PageHub is a cloud computing platform that delivers social apps on behalf of brands. It gives them access to real-time data about who is using their apps, an ideal solution for on-the-go monitoring of marketing campaigns.

PageHub is working with leading marketing agencies as well as direct clients such as fashion label Lazy Oaf, high street chain Monsoon Accessorize and Lucky Voice, the karaoke business founded by Martha Lane Fox.

PageHub apps are supporting gift promotions, polls, photo and video competitions, product catalogues, storefronts and store finders.

James Wood, PageHub's 25-year-old CEO, founded the company in March 2011 having worked on digital at the integrated Brighton agency Oliver & Graimes. He spotted a gap in the market for a social app and instant insight platform.

James said: "I knew there was a way for clients to get more out of Facebook apps. For us, apps help brands get to know key information about a customer. They can help track gender, age bracket, likes and interests, top responding locations and times of days, who converts and who redeems. This sort of information, delivered in real-time, is brilliant for campaigns."

James' first hire was fellow O & G colleague Jack Lockyer, now PageHub's Head of New Business. Jack said: "We want brands to come to us to manage everything in their social space. We're offering a unified dashboard for all of a brand's social activity for running apps."

Dan Pilkington, Head of Digital Marketing at Lucky Voice, said: "We wanted to augment our Facebook page with a tempting welcome offer and a compelling way of presenting user-generated content from our bars and from people using our online karaoke experience. PageHub have created two fantastic apps for us which are already driving direct business and brilliant viral word of mouth, just days after putting them live. Functionally smooth and beautifully branded, we're very happy with them."

As well as Facebook, PageHub is rolling out plans for platforms on Twitter and Google Plus.

PageHub, an IBM Business Partner, is a privately funded company based in Brighton, England, with five employees.
