"I See Hope" Team Raises $16,400 For Sight Saving Retinal Research
Online, November 13, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Under the direction of Dr. Ana Juricic, leading eye care clinic, Clearview Vision Institute, raised $16,400 in its Foundation Fighting Blindness Cycle for Sight fundraising ride. The Clearview "I See Hope" team, which consisted of doctors, patients, and others motivated by the cause, took the challenge to cycle to Collingwood from either Toronto or Alliston. The money raised will go towards an expansion in retinal research.
Clearview Vision Institute is a leading eye care center in the greater Toronto area. Its extensive list of treatment options includes Lasik Xtra, Laser Blended Vision, Custom Refractive Lens Exchange, and much more. In a recent fundraiser, the Foundation Fighting Blindness Cycle for Sight cycling ride, the Clearview Vision Institute made an enormous stride in its fight for retinal research.
In an effort to further the progress of retinal research, and existing eye care treatments, the Clearview "I See Hope" cycling team embarked on a 140km fundraising cycling ride from Toronto to Collingwood. As an alternative, some of the team members, which consisted of eye doctors, patients, and other interested parties, chose to ride the 70km distance from Alliston to Collingwood.
Dr. Ana Juricic, the Low Vision Optometrist at Clearview Vision Institute and the leader of the "I See Hope" cycling team, rode the entire 140km distance from Toronto to Collingwood. She completed the distance on a tandem bicycle with her partner who is completely blind. Through their efforts, and the combined efforts of the Clearview Vision Institute "I See Hope" team, $16,400 has been added to further the development of sight saving retinal research.
The Clearview "I See Hope" cycling team was sponsored by the $6000 raised at the Diamonds and Vision Fundraiser, which was held on April 26, 2012. The event was hosted by Dr. Christoph Kranemann and his wife Dina, with the help of Varouj Tabakian, master jeweler, and his wife Susan.
Following this year's success, the Clearview Vision Institute has already announced the date of its next Cycle for Sight ride, which will be held on June 22, 2013. To get involved or to learn more about Clearview Vision Institute, and its fight for retinal research, visit www.clearviewinstitute.com.
